Alfredo Jaar and Hugh M. Davies

In conversation
On the occasion of Quint Gallery's exhibition of Walking on Water, we present a virtual discussion between Alfredo Jaar and Hugh M. Davies exploring this artwork and Jaar's practice as an artist and architect documenting socio-political crises and acts of resistance around the world.

Jaar has exhibited at the Venice Biennale, São Paulo Biennial, and Documenta in Kassel, Germany. He has realized more than seventy public interventions internationally, and became a Guggenheim Fellow in 1985 and a MacArthur Fellow in 2000. He received the Hiroshima Art Prize in 2018 and the Hasselblad Photography Prize in 2020.

Hugh M. Davies was the CEO and Director of the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego from 1983 until 2017. In 1992 Davies mounted an exhibition of Alfredo Jaar's work at the then-titled La Jolla Museum of Contemporary Art, which was Alfredo's first museum exhibition in the US.
