Ideal Boy is a limited-edition book collaboration by poet Ed Friedman and visual artist Kim MacConnel. Its 14 poems and 18 illustrations evoke a “speculative pan-cultural boyhood & manhood replete with customs, rites, prohibitions, encouragements, ambitions, fantasies, and assessments.” Visual artist Ann Agee has designed a three-color dust jacket for the book, which has been screen-printed in four versions. The titling on each version is in a different language: Tamil, Urdu, Khmer, Tajik. Ideal Boy has been produced in an edition of 200. Each copy has been numbered and signed by the author, illustrator, and cover artist.
