Roy Porello | Pacific Portraits: At THE LOT
Roy Porello grew up in Pacific Beach surfing the local breaks and photographing the beach scene during a time of immense change in the sport of surfing. Under the mentorship of the San Diego underwater photographer Ron Church, who was to become one of the true masters of surf photography, Porello spent all of his time documenting the local San Diego coast culture, and working in his darkroom printing primarily his black and white images of the sixties.
Porello continued photographing the surfing world before turning to commercial photography in 1980. He continues to live and work in San Diego. The Lot and Quint Projects are excited to present this small selection of Roy Porello’s large body of unique work.
