Jean Lowe | Last Call!
JEAN LOWE uses the language of advertising and promotion in this series of paintings. The exhibition LAST CALL! is concerned with the current cultural and political moment. Melding art history, nostalgia, and the esthetic of current day catalog mailers, this work is an oblique critique of the “new normal” and the longing for an imagined past.
Jean Lowe’s artwork has been exhibited in solo museum presentations at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Kansas City; the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego; and The Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati. Lowe’s work can be found in the permanent collections at the Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation; the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego; the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art, Utah State University; and the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art. Lowe lives and works in San Diego, California.
