Overview
Friday, January 24, 6pm: Closing Reception and Book Signing
Quint Gallery is pleased to present a selection of new paintings by Robert Ginder, his first exhibition with the gallery in 15 years.  Since the mid 1980s, Ginder has been documenting domestic architecture that characterizes Southern California, and San Diego in particular, painting with historical techniques of the Quattrocento. His gilded skies reach towards arched panels that recall Italian Renaissance altar paintings, retrofitting religious iconography with portraits of tidy granny flats and manicured front lawns.  This exhibition opens on the occasion of a new monograph being published on the artist by Hat & Beard Press: Golden Estates: The House Paintings of Robert Ginder.

Robert Ginder grew up in East Compton, California, in the 1950s. After graduating from Orange Coast College, Ginder moved to North County, San Diego, for several years. Ginder was included in an emerging artist group show at the contemporary art museum in La Jolla in 1984. Soon after that, he started showing in San Diego, Los Angeles, and New York.  After living and working in New York and exhibiting bi-coastally for 30 years, he has recently returned to his Western roots and splits his time between Las Vegas and Southern California.
