Lincoln Schatz | Collision
Quint Contemporary Art is pleased to announce “Collision” an exhibition of interactive memory-video work by artist Lincoln Schatz. The exhibition will be open to the public from November 11 through December 31 with a reception for the artist on November 11, 2005, from 6-8 pm.
Each of the three new interactive video works provides a unique view of ideas about perception, self and time. Resonant in these pieces is the idea that time is no longer a linear element; time is a stacked module. The layers of present time, recent time and distant past, all simultaneously present push and pull. The result is a collision of imagery on-screen and the offering of another way of seeing, another way of thinking about what we see.
Mr. Schatz studied at Bennington College, Vermont and has been a visiting artist at the Williams College in Williamstown, MA; Rice University, Houston; and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. His work has been exhibited internationally most recently in Seoul, South Korea. The recipient of many commissioned projects, Schatz’s “Across Time” is the inaugural site-specific video art commission currently on view at the Spertus Museum in Chicago. Locally, Mr. Schatz was invited to lecture at the highly regarded CRCA at the University of California, San Diego.
