Lincoln Schatz, Gary Lang and John Gerrard | Heavy Light
Quint Contemporary Art is pleased to present HEAVY LIGHT an exhibition of video/digital-based artwork opening on November 17th and continuing through December 30th, 2006.
HEAVY LIGHT showcases an eclectic group of artists from California, New York, Chicago and Ireland who have created diverse examples of contemporary videos including rough hand drawn digital images, highly technical viewer participation pieces, conceptual time based programs and formal abstract video "paintings".
Artist's videos, pioneered in the 60's and 70's by artists such as Bruce Nauman, Nam June Paik and Vito Acconci have continually pushed the boundaries of contemporary film culture and have for better or worse been the grandfathers of today's "15 minutes of Fame". In the past ten years video art has come into it's own. Once thought of as commercially unviable there are now numerous collectors, public institutions and museums that have put together outstanding collections of this art form. Quint Contemporary art is pleased to be able to present such works by the likes of Lincoln Schatz, Gary Lang and John Gerrard.
Gallery owner and director Mark Quint will give a presentation on the works at the gallery on December 13th at 7pm. Please call the gallery at 858-454-3409 to RSVP.
